ROCHESTER, Minn. — Some local leaders took part in a national effort to recognize those who give.
It is called “Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service” and it took place all over the country.
Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede recognized some local volunteers and issued a proclamation calling Tuesday “National Service Recognition Day” in Rochester.
“In today’s economy, there’s a lot of things that we wouldn’t be able to do just because of cost if we had to hire the people to do all of that and while we want to hire as many people as we can, it’s about jobs,” Brede said.
Albert Lea also took part in the festivities. Volunteers with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) were recognized at the last city council meeting.
