CHARLES CITY, Iowa – This is child abuse awareness month and one group is using a bit of color to help increase awareness.
The Floyd County Child Abuse Prevention Council is using the art of coloring to help shed some light on the issue.
President of the council Bill Vetter says doing activities like this can hopefully spur change and a reduction in number of abuse cases.
“We have a chalk for the cause where kids come out and draw on the sidewalks and we’ll have some stuff for the kids and bubbles and stuff for the kids to entertain,” said Vetter.
Those events will be taking place on April 12th.
He adds there’s even a chance for kids to win money for the best colored pin wheel.
