CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – Retirement is certainly something to celebrate, and for one north Iowa librarian, she’s celebrating it by remembering all she has seen over the past 30 years.
Clear Lake Public Library director Jean Casey has seen many changes and developments at her job.
She says that when she first began, the development of computers and technology was kicking off and was making its way into businesses everywhere.
Thanks to her many years of service, she has met and gotten to know many families in town and says that this has been one of the most rewarding parts of her job.
“I’ve served three generations of some families,” she says, “the grandparents, the parents, who were young children when I came, and now the children of those people, and it’s been exciting to see the families that so value the library.”
Not only is this year a celebration of Casey and her 30 years of service to the community, but this year also marks its 125th anniversary of the library serving the Clear Lake and surrounding area.
