MASON CITY, IA – East Park in Mason City will be getting an upgrade over the next three years. The cannonball garden is a go and the design is laid out.
Four terraces will be situated behind the train which will help preserve the slope which has been slowly eroding.
The area will be used for educational purposes as well as a scenic place to sit.
The total cost for this project will be $125,000.
So far, the city has granted the project $25,000 and the rest will be made through fundraising.
One person overseeing the project tells us why this will be a good thing for the park and folks of Mason City.
“This is really going to be a very attractive location and we have so many things going on in East Park during the summer and so many people down there that it is really going to be an addition to the park,” says Dennis Wilson.
If they can come up with $10,000 by August, the
project will start then. If you want to donate to the cause, there is more information at City Hall.
