MASON CITY, Iowa – It’s a project to bring music to the streets and one local group of teens is putting the finishing touches on their effort to make that happen.
Students from “YIELD” or “Youth Invested Energy in Leadership Development,” are painting pianos that will soon be placed around Mason City.
Elijah Warfield a junior with YIELD says he’s very excited to see people’s reaction.
“Well we want them to be able to feel welcome to go down and sit down and play whatever they feel comfortable with and just let them know that there is different kinds of charity work not just the regular things that everyone knows, that charity work can be fun,” said Warfield.
The teens were in charge of getting permits for the pianos, raising money, and now decorating.
The hope is they will be up sometime this spring.
