MASON CITY, Iowa – Authorities in north Iowa say they got a very special piece of equipment.
The Mason City Police department says they received a MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle in March. The vehicle is being loaned out to certain law enforcement agencies from the Department of Defense.
Police say the new MRAP provides them with more options to respond to dangerous incidents than what they previously had. It may also be used to assist SOG and other authorities on high-risk incidents.
