CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – Nearly one thousand people headed over the Clear Lake this weekend to celebrate and appreciate the many ways to cook, serve and eat bacon.
Vendors at the inaugural North Iowa Bacon Fest handed out everything from bacon wrapped hot dogs to bacon cupcakes.
Area and state-wide restaurants, along with a number of different meat lockers and caterers, set up tables at the event to share their bacon creations with the public.
Hillary Bartell, the owner of Grandma Sugar’s Cupcakery was one of the vendors dishing out delicious bacon delicacies.
She says that not only is an event like this fun for the community, it also helps with bringing in more business.
“It’s super exciting to get our name out and let people know about us that might not have heard about us,” she says.
The sold out event drew in people from all over north Iowa and southern Minnesota.
