KIMT NEWS 3 - If you are a frequent customer of a local Pizza Hut, you may be in for a disappointment today.
That’s because three branches are either closed or about to close.
“I’m going to miss it,” says Samantha Reese, a loyal customer to the Clear Lake location.
It seems to be the general statement among Pizza Hut customers in Forest City, Cresco, and Clear Lake.
While we still don’t know exactly why this is yet we do know many people are disappointed.
“Delivery for in town is a big thing, I got a lot of friends that live in town and you know for just having a party one night or whatever just call at Pizza Hut convenience wise,” says Forest City customer Matt Keel.
“I’m going to miss it, we come here about every Sunday for pizza pick up,” says Reese.
And it’s not only pizza lovers that are going to be disappointed. Many high school student’s wallets relied on income from the establishments.
“The first thing I thought of was the employment you know even when I was in high school 15 years ago a lot of my friends were employed with Pizza Hut and a lot of the igh schooler’s it’s a good place for employment for them and I think there going to be hurting that way,” says Keel.
The regional manager says employees will have the opportunity to transfer to another local Pizza Hut but for many that would be a long commute.
“They’re not going to want to commute a half hour but it’s really a sad deal for the town of Forest City not just Pizza Hut,” adds Keel.
Several local customers say they always had great service and good pizza.
“Whenever we come in we always get friendly people, friendly waiters,” says Reese.
And when asked how their weekly tradition will change, local pizza lovers are holding out hope that Pizza Hut will not be gone for good.
“I don’t know, hopefully they open up a new one,” adds Reese.
The three locations closing are owned by a separate franchise.
We will keep you up to date as we find out why those doors are closing.
