WORTH COUNTY, Iowa – A Minnesota man was busted for possessing Khat, a flowering plant that authorities say can cause euphoria and manic behavior.
Dayax Abdi Ahmed, 38, was arrested by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force on Tuesday.
Police tell us the plant is native to the Horn of Africa. Khat contains an amphetamine and is mainly used by chewing.
Police seized multiple pounds of the drug that had an estimated street value of $8,000.
Ahmed is being held in Worth County Jail.
