Update: The Olmsted County Sheriff’s office says an autopsy will be preformed Thursday on a body found during a house fire.
The blaze took place Wednesday morning in Viola township. Authorities say the body was badly burned when they discovered it.
Law enforcement have not confirmed the identity but will release more information as soon as they get it.
Also the cause of the fire is under investigation.
VIOLA, MN – The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office tells us one body was found in a rural residence after a house fire in the Viola Township.
Deputies responded to the fire around 10 a.m. and found the home completely engulfed in flames.
Officials say one individual was unaccounted for when they arrived on scene, but it is still unclear whether or not they were the body that was found in the home.
The fire happened on the 3700 block on county road 107 Northeast.
Fire departments from surrounding townships assisted in putting the flames out.
The state’s medical examiner and fire marshal will be helping identify the body and the cause of the fire.
