MANLY, Iowa – A local county is hoping to create more jobs and opportunities but they’re asking for some help from the state, first.
The Iowa Northern Railway is hoping to expand in Manly.
Once again, the Worth County Supervisors are asking the state for a transportation grant.
It would be used to help fund an Upper Midwest Transportation Hub which would handle shipping trailers and containers.
Something supervisors say will benefit everyone from manufacturers, to Ag producers.
“It could bring jobs, be a lot of short trucking halls for different people. Iowa Northern will bring the freight in and it will be distributed to the Manly area,” said Ken Abrams, a Supervisor for Worth County.
This is the second time the county has applied for this grant.
