Kitchen fire in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Rochester Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire on Friday night.

A passerby called 911 and reported that he could see flames in the kitchen at 2032 Valley High Drive Northwest. When crews arrived, they found a fire in the kitchen that was starting to spread to the second level of the house. The occupants of the house weren’t home at the time. A dog and cat were in the house but were unharmed.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but officials are focusing on a gas stove that’s in the kitchen. Damage is estimated at less than $30,000 dollars. Most of the damage is contained to the kitchen but there is smoke damage to other parts of the house.
