Update: Rollover leads police to woman with a warrant for arrest

MASON CITY, Ia – We now have the name of the woman wanted for her arrest.

Jennifer Collins, 43, of Mason City was riding in a car when it lost control early Monday evening resulting in a rollover in the northbound land of Highway 65.

Collins immediately fled the scene as she was wanted by police for violating her probation. Authorities caught her not far from the scene of the crash.

She is currently being held in Cerro Gordo County Jail.

The driver was Jami Garcia, 37, of Mason City.

After being on her phone and lighting a cigarette while driving, she is being charged with failure to maintain control of her vehicle. We are told by authorities that other charges may follow.

The other passenger was Dale Mcfarlend, 38, of Osage, IA.

No injuries are reported.

The accident happened in the northbound lane of Highway 65 earlier this evening, around 5:45 p.m.

The driver was on her cell phone and lighting a cigarette while driving, which led to her losing control and landing in the median.

One female passenger immediately fled the scene but was caught by officers not far away. She was then taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center and escorted by Mason City Police.

She was later discharged and taken to the Mason City Police Department.

There were a total of 3 people in the vehicle.

We are told the driver is from Mason City. No report yet on what her warrant concerns.
