Forest City man pleads guilty to embezzlement

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The former vice president of Bartleson Masonry, Inc. in Forest City has pled guilty to embezzlement.  42-year-old Anthony Bartleson of Forest City has been convicted in federal court in Cedar Rapids of embezzling more than $40,000 from an employee retirement plan.  In a plea agreement, Bartleson confessed to withholding money from workers’ paychecks and using it for his own benefit.  He also failed to make employer contributions to the retirement plan.  Bartleson has been released pending sentencing.  He faces up to five years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 thousand dollar fine.
