Tuesday begins a week honoring nurses and the work they do across the nation.
Mercy Medical Center North Iowa is taking time to recognize nurses this week with several activities and special treats for the nursing staff.
The Chief Nursing Officer tells us she would honor the work nurses do everyday if she could.
“I just think that really nurses are the most selfless group of individuals that I’ve had the pleasure of working with I mean they always do their best to take care of patients and families and putting their own needs second and just a wonderful compassionate group and they’re an honor to work with,” says Kim Chamberlin.
In addition to giving some recognition to nurses, the medical center is holding a food drive to benefit local food banks throughout the week. The week of recognition wraps up on May 12th which is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
