MASON CITY, Iowa - There are some new sights to see around downtown Mason City.
The newest series of the “River City Sculptures on Parade” have arrived and were installed by city operations crews on Tuesday morning.
The newest batch of 24 sculptures features work from artists around the country as well as right in Iowa.
Many of the artist were in town on Tuesday putting their final touches on how their work will be displayed and what direction things will face.
One sculpture is a hot item for many members of the Mason City chamber of commerce as it is a larger than life bronze bicycle that has been mounted on one of the corners the Mason City RAGBRAI route this summer.
This is only the second series of sculptures in town but thanks to the success of the 2013 parade, chamber members are looking forward to seeing what this year will bring.
Last year’s parade brought in $157,000 worth of sales and leases.
