HAMPTON, Iowa – Usually it’s Christmas cheer you spread by singing loud for all to hear. But on Sunday, it definitely applied to Mother’s Day.
Since 2012, Hampton residents have been getting together a few times a month to sing their favorite tunes.
And Sunday was no different, but this time it had a Mother’s Day theme.
Most members are seniors, and the group leader says it’s something they look forward to.
“It seems like Sundays can kind of be a lonely day for some people so it kind of gives them a place to go, something to do, they participate, they sing along and it’s not just something to go and watch,” says leader Dawn Groszkruger.
The group is open to anyone and it’s free to participate.
