This might look like a scary scene if you we’re driving past Hanlontown Saturday morning, but not to worry. A control fire was set to help train some local firefighters.
The Five Star Co-op grain elevator in Hanlontown is going down in flames, in order to make room for a new bean complex that Five Star Co-op will be building.
Burning the elevator down is also giving fire departments from all over Worth County some extra training.
“Any fire is a good training experience, especially like this one because you do have others in the country that are like this one, so if something did happen, this way they have experience on what to expect,” says Wayne Steven who manages the co-op.
The grain elevator took more than an hour to collapse.
