ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Health has released stats on nurses, and some of them are surprising. It says that 92% of nurses are female and 94% consider themselves white.
We spoke to a local nursing teacher at the University of Minnesota Rochester campus who says there are always ways to make the numbers better. “I think ultimately patients are more and more expecting there to be diversity in nursing because we have a very diverse population increasingly so especially here in Rochester,” teacher Patrick Dean said.
Dean also told us he is very excited to see the incoming students this fall, and expects it to be even more diverse.
