ORONOCO, Minn. – Earlier this month we told you about the stolen brass rods from the grave’s of veterans. Now most of them are back in place just in time for Memorial Day.
Monday morning a group of folks from southern Minnesota gathered at the Oronoco Cemetery to remember those who gave their lives for this country. Director of the cemetery, John Tillford tells KIMT News 3 that he got nearly all of the stolen rods back to their rightful owners. There are only two missing right now. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating the case.
In the meantime, those at the service could remember other veterans. “I’ve got a number of friends in some of these cemeteries in the area. They went through what I did and more than what I did, ” World War II Veteran Donald Baker said.
