Hundreds turn out for Memorial Day program in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. – It’s a day meant to remember those who have fought for our country’s freedom, and Monday morning hundreds of people did just that.

A sea of people flooded into the Soliders Field Veterans Memorial to honor vets both past and present. Numerous city and state leaders were on hand for the program which lasted around an hour. The main speaker of the event, and Vietnam Veteran, Harry Kerr spoke to the crowd on the importance of vets. “Because they stand forward, put on a uniform and take the oath, to preserve freedom, democracy, America, the rest of us can go to the mall.” he said.

The memorial has been around since 2000.
