ROCHESTER, Minn. – A U.S. Senator made a stop to our area Wednesday morning.
Senator Amy Klobuchar took a tour of Highway 14 during her visit to southern Minnesota. She was part of a group of state officials looking at the highway in many spots to see how it could be improved.
There is a project set to begin in July but that only covers three miles and authorities are asking for more.
“Not just to improve safety but an opportunity to build commerce. Southern Minnesota is the region with the lowest unemployment rate in our state. Southern Minnesota is expanding and growing, with farming and manufacturing and medical.” DFL Senator Klobuchar said.
“It’s about supporting all the millions of visitors that are coming or going to be coming to Rochester over the coming years. This is really important for southern Minnesota.” Interim President of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce Jerry Williams said.
The total cost of the project is expected to be more than $200 million dollars if passed.
