KIMT News 3 – A group that works to help people with disabilities achieve their career goals is awarding a major employer in our area for their help.
Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services nominated Winnebago Industries in Forest City for the “Employer Award for Large Businesses,” and they won. It is the first year this award is being given out by the Iowa Business and Industry Association.
Those at Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services in Mason City say the partnership has resulted in jobs being filled and disabled individuals gaining quality employees.
Counselor Michelle Krefft nominated them for this award.
“When the Iowa Business and Industry Association contacted us for a nomination for a large employer of the year, only one came to mind and that was Winnebago Industries because they have been such a value to us,” says Krefft.
She also tells us that Winnebago Industries is actually ranked number four in Iowa in the number of disabled people they employ. Others in the top three include Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart.
