ROCHESTER, Minn. – Thousands of republicans are hitting the med-city to choose who will run for office this fall.
Today, the GOP kicked off in Rochester with votes on numerous candidates including that for Secretary of State, Auditor, and even U.S. Senate. Delegates from all across the state of Minnesota are converging on the Mayo Civic Center for the two day event. “It’s important that rural voices are heard because Minnesota isn’t just a blue state, we have a big red rural area here,” Becky Olson a delegate from Morrison County said. “Well obviously it means a lot of folks here spending a lot of money that’s part of it, but it’s also exciting. I think we republicans used to have a high representation here, it’s kinda mixed now,” added Olmsted County GOP Chair Fran Bradley.
The DFL will be holding their convention in Duluth.
