FOREST CITY, Iowa – The countdown to RAGBRAI is underway, and one community is planning ahead and starting their recruitment for volunteers.
The Forest City RAGBRAI committee will be hosting an open house at the Forest City High School on July 8th to get people signed up for various volunteering positions for when bikers come through on July 22nd.
Representatives from different committees, like sanitation, hospitality, camping and food, will be at the open house to inform the community about the different tasks they will have to accomplish throughout the day
Forest City RAGBRAI chairman, Gary Ludwig says that so far, they’re more prepared than they have ever been for the event.
He says that while they have all of their committees in place, the last piece of the puzzle is getting the community on board to make it a safe and successful day.
“There are three things we have to do here,” he says, “we’ve got to give them a place to camp, we’ve got to feed them well, and we’ve got to make sure they’re safe. If we can accomplish all three of those things, it’s going to be a success.”
Ludwig says that the weather is the only thing out of their control, but that they have a number of rain plans and he says, “whether we have nice weather or bad weather, on July 22nd, RAGBRAI will be coming to Forest City.”
