LAKE MILLS, Iowa – It’s a unique facility that’s producing certified organic produce year round and it’s located in north Iowa.
Perfect Circle is one of just three facilities in the country that grows organic tomatoes all year.
The corporation is located right next to landfill which produces waste heat and is used to power the greenhouse during the colder months.
The facility manager says in the past several years it’s become more important for people to know where their food is coming from.
“That’s our whole idea, we want to grow the food closer to the people. Your average vegetable travels 1500 miles before it gets to somebody’s mouth. Instead we like to stay within a couple 100 miles,” explains Mark Hommez, who manages Perfect Circle.
The Perfect Circle Corporation supplies tomatoes to organic wholesalers in Minneapolis but you can also find their organic tomatoes at Hy-Vee stores across north Iowa
