KIMT News 3- They are popping up all over the place, but really how safe are those food trucks.
According to health officials we spoke with, the health standards are the same across the board. “They all have the same food borne illness risk factors to manage. Such as hand washing, keeping the hot foods hot the cold foods cold.So we really have to look at it like we would a restaurant. Do they have the equipment to support the operation and are they handling the food properly,” Assistant Director of Olmsted County Public Health Dawn Beck said.
She added that sometimes they are looked into differently but they level of safety for customers is always at the same level as restaurants.
