ROCHESTER, Minn. – The event has been happening for 77 years and is still going strong.
Friday, those with the Salvation Army and many across the area took part in their annual donut day.It celebrates the rich history the organization has with veterans and those serving overseas now. It even falls on a very important date in this nation’s history. “For us it’s just a chance, a lucky coincidence and it’s our way of honoring again those veterans that we serve notice to after all these years and to honor their efforts for us,” Dave Ferber with the Rochester Salvation Army said.
Some of the donuts made during World War I were created with a tub of lard.
