North Iowa man files to get sentence reconsidered


WORTH COUNTY, Iowa – A north Iowa man sentenced to 10 years in prison, is asking for a new sentence.

Michael Chodur was sentenced to jail time in early March. Iowa law allows those convicted to request reconsideration of their sentence within a year.

Chodur plead guilty to a deadly crash in 2012 that killed Lynn Weedman of Glenville.

Investigators say the two were driving Chevy Corvettes north of Manly when Weedman was rear-ended. Both cars burst into flames. Weedman died at an Iowa City burn unit a few days later.

Included in the motion were letters from family members citing that Chodur and Weedman were close friends and that the crash was an accident.
