ROCHESTER, Minn. – Channel One Regional Food Bank is in the running for a $500,000 grant. It is one of seven non-profit groups to be named a finalist in the first-ever “All-Star Fans Choose” contest put on by the Minnesota Twins and Major League Baseball. People can vote online at AllStarGame.com/FansChoose until July 10 and the winner will be announced during MLB’s All-Star Week in July. Channel One says it would use the money to add over 20,000 square feet of warehouse space to their Rochester location and build a kitchen and classroom to better serve people in need. The organization helps an average of 100,000 people a year in 13 southeast Minnesota counties and LaCrosse County in Wisconsin. Nearly 100 non-profits in five states applied for this grant program.
