ROCHESTER, Minn. – Witnesses helped rescue a woman who was allegedly held captive and sexually assaulted by her boyfriend. 24-year-old Joseph Patrick Martin II of Rochester is facing charges of first degree criminal sexual conduct and domestic assault with strangulation. He’s accused of holding his victim hostage for 24 hours at a residence in the 4600 block of 14th Avenue Northwest, where he beat and sexually assaulted her. Rochester police say the victim convinced Martin to drive to a store for cigarette rollers. When Martin left the vehicle, the woman tried to drive away and Martin jumped back in through the passenger’s side window. The woman screamed and people who came to help managed to pull her out of the vehicle. After getting witness reports on the incident, the authorities arrested Martin.
