MASON CITY, Iowa – It’s an effort to bridge the generation gap. Local anglers young and old are casting their lines for a feel good event.
More than 25 residents from Good Shepherd Nursing Home headed outdoors today along with some local volunteers to do some fishing.
Newman’s baseball team along with kids from the North Iowa Youth Center helped the residents try to reel in a big catch.
“They get a chance to be outside. Fish, get to talk with us. Get to talk to the baseball players. Enjoy themselves, hopefully catch a few fish,” said Reed Rognes a senior at Newman.
Five fish were caught in total.
