MEDIAPOLIS, Iowa (AP) — Authorities in the southeastern Iowa town of Mediapolis say a man was badly injured in a fire that consumed his van at a campground.
The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and the Mediapolis Fire Department were called to a campground pumping station for reports of a van on fire and a unconscious man with burns.
Officials say the van was fully engulfed in flames when deputies and rescuers arrived. The man was flown by medical helicopter to an Iowa City hospital. Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
No other details, including the name of the man hurt, have been released.
