Authorities: Don’t drive through flooded roadways

ROCHESTER, Minn. – After storms rolled through our region Monday night, authorities are reminding everyone to stay off flooded roadways.

In the Southeast part of Rochester, three vehicles ended up stranded in the middle of a flooded roadway. All of them got out, but even the smallest amount of water can cause serious concern. “Be aware, as little as six inches of water can sweep someone off their feet. Twelve inches of water can float a car away. So it’s very important that we do not traverse roadways that are covered with water,” Assistant Fire Marshal Larry Mueller said.

Law enforcement suggests if you do need to travel to take it very slow.
