MASON CITY, Iowa – It wasn’t just those at home who spent Monday night worried about what might happen. Even businesses had to think fast especially with customers inside.
At Applebee’s in Mason City, people were asked to go to the cooler, to take shelter from the severe weather. Other stores lost power. In those cases, customers were asked to leave before the weather got bad.
Lucas Frein, manager at Applebee’s, tells us his main concern was keeping everyone around him, safe.
“Maintaining everybody’s safety, guests and employees. Actually it’s not something I’ve had to go through at any of the stores I’ve worked through out country,” said Frein.
He also tells us they tried to make the customers feel a little better after the ordeal. Those in the restaurant all got gift cards.
