DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Officials are slowly restoring power to Iowa customers after severe storms packing high winds and heavy rain crossed the state.
MidAmerican Energy says it has nearly 700 customers without power Tuesday night, down from nearly 27,000 in the morning.
Alliant Energy reported more than 1,400 Iowa customers without power, down from 12,000. The Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives showed nearly 700 customers without power.
The storms were part of a large system that walloped parts of other Midwest states, including Nebraska.
