KIMT News 3 – Hand-Foot-and Mouth disease is commonly spread during the summer months and is one parents should always be on the lookout for.
The disease is very common in toddlers. It starts off with a fever then in just days a rash can spread across their entire body. Jennifer Stiles a registered nurse with the Cerro Gordo County Public Health tells us if your kid does come down with this, the symptoms can be quite hard on them.
“Little kids can get the sores in their mouth and become dehydrated because they’re not drinking. That’s something you want to look for too,” said Stiles.
Stiles says kids are most contagious during that first week. She recommends cleaning off toys, door handles, and washing your hands thoroughly.
