OSAGE, Iowa – If you made plans to go camping this weekend, you might want to reschedule. Many campgrounds in Iowa and Minnesota are remaining closed due to high water levels and storm damage from this past week.
The Spring Park Campground in Osage was closed Thursday morning because of these dangerously high waters.
County officials are also urging citizens to stay away from other parks around the Cedar River as it continues to rise.
One Park and Rec Director tells us, when they re-open all depends on what the forecast says for those up north.
“A lot here depends on what happens up north of us with the Cedar River, what St. Ansgar and Austin get, that type of thing.
I know they’ve got more rain, I think, than we actually have here in Osage,” says Del Gast.
He says over the last week, that river has risen over three feet.
