Federal money goes to Mason City Airport

WASHINGTON, DC – The Mason City Municipal Airport is getting $600,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation.  Airport Manager, Pam Osgood says the money will go for a nearly million dollar effort to rehabilitate runway lighting and improve the building that houses the airport’s electrical equipment.  The contract for the work has been awarded to Boltmer, Inc. of Decorah. U.S. Senator Tom Harkin, a senior Democrat on the Senate panel that funds transportation initiatives, says “I am pleased that Mason City has received funds to improve the airport and I look forward to the benefits it will bring to the local economy”.
