ROCHESTER, Minn. – 50 years after it first opened, the Rochester Area YMCA continues to keep their doors open.
Generations of families in the area have learned healthy lifestyles from the organization which the Village People made famous. You can learn anything from yoga, dodgeball, to swimming lessons at a local YMCA. Despite the years turning into decades, those with the “Y” say they are as strong as ever. “Even though our building is aging, we still feel like we are a vibrant organization and very important to the community of Rochester for healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility,” Director of Operations Talbird Lovan said.
Events are planned throughout the weekend to celebrate 50 years.
