No plea agreement reached in attempted murder case

Andrew Zeitler

PRIMGHAR, Iowa – The trial of a man accused of attempted murder is apparently going forward.  26-year-old Andrew Zeitler allegedly shot Dustin Kiefer of Wesley in the early morning hours of July 21st.  Kiefer’s fiancée says he was shot 10 times with an AK47.  Zeitler was arrested in Corwith after a brief manhunt.  He’s charged with attempted murder and going armed with intent.  Kiefer spent three weeks in the hospital after the shooting.

A deadline of July 1st had been set to reach a plea agreement in Zeitler’s case, but after a pre-trial conference Monday, online court records say a July 8th trial will proceed as scheduled in O’Brien County.  Zeitler’s case was transferred to O’Brien from Kossuth County.
