ALBERT LEA, Minn. – A summer event held in our area helps to promote the community, but it also helps generate exposure for local stores and restaurants, which can drum up business too.
The first “Wind Down Wednesday” of the year took place Wednesday, kicking off the event’s third year.
Leaders say the day’s beautiful weather brought out a big crowd and helped the event get off to a great start.
“Social media is so big right now, so they Facebook everybody and tell everybody to come down. It just continues to get bigger, like a snowball and that’s how it’s happened here. [Wednes]day, by far, has been our best year ever,” said Susie Peterson, Executive Director of the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Many vendors began running out of food a few hours before the event was over. They say they never expected to see so many people in attendance.
