Missing Minnesota woman found dead in Wisconsin; Man arrested in case

ROCHESTER, Minn – A woman last seen alive in Minnesota has turned up dead in a suitcase in Wisconsin, and a man has been arrested in the case.

37-year-old Laura Simonson of Farmington, MN was last seen in Rochester on November 2nd, 2013.  On June 5th of this year, the bodies of Simonson and another deceased female were located in suitcases placed along a roadside ditch in the Town of Geneva, Wisconsin.  Rochester Police were contacted about this case by the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation on June 10th.  A coordinated investigation led to the arrest Wednesday of 52-year-old Steven M. Zelich of West Allis, WI.

Rochester Police say they continue to investigate Simonson’s death as a homicide occurring in their jurisdiction.  More information is expected to be released Thursday.

This is a sketch of what the unidentified victim may have looked like.  Description from authorities:

She is described as possibly Caucasian, between the ages of 15 to 35, height 5’2” to 5’4”, weight 120 – 140 pounds with long, straight dark brown or black hair.  She has a pronounced overbite and crooked lower teeth, two piercings in each ear, and a quarter sized heart tattoo on the lower left abdomen/pelvic area.
