MASON CITY, Iowa – U.S. Representative Bruce Braley stopped by Mason City to show his support for renewable fuels. The congressman is talking with those at the REG Biodiesel Production facility. It uses vegetable oils to make millions of gallons of biodiesel each year. Braley says he has always been an advocate for this industry.
“I’m passionate about it because it’s fundamental to the growth and the rural economy to Iowa and many other states. I spent my life working around soybeans, cleaning out soybeans bins, hauling soybean meal when I was younger and it’s an absolute critical part of our states economy,” said Braley.
Braleys says he is upset with the EPA as they try to reduce the renewable fuel standard. He is the only member of Iowa’s congressional delegation that testified against the reduction last December.
