Five toe running, can it improve your health

ROCHESTER, Minn. – With Summer officially here, many people will be hitting the pavement with their shoes. But are those new minimalists shoes really all that great for your health.

Basically what these shoes will mimic running barefoot, which can help some people with their running because they hit the front of their foot instead of the rear. We talked to a local doctor who says there could be some differences but they can be no different than your regular tennis shoe and won’t cure everything. “Minimalists shoes are not a miracle performance enhancer. Some people may like them, they may feel that they are comfortable, and if so they maybe a very good fit for them,” Dr. Ed Laskowski, Co-Director of the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center said.

Dr. Laskowski says if you do decided to try these shoes out to take things slow.
