One dead after single-vehicle crash

HANLONTOWN, Iowa – A Mason City woman lost her life in a single vehicle accident on Saturday.

It happened near the intersection of highway 9 and 360th St. near Hanlontown.

According to the Iowa State Patrol reports, 26-year-old Erika Schneckloth of Mason City was traveling westbound on highway 9 when she failed to make it around the curve at the 360th St intersection.

Officials reports say that Schneckloth went off the roadway, over corrected her vehicle and rolled multiple times before her vehicle came to a stop on the right side of the road.

Paramedics brought her to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa where she was pronounced dead.

Reports indicate that Schneckloth was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, however the cause of the incident remains under investigation.

Fertile and Hanlontown EMS and Fire Departments were on scene along with Forest City Paramedics, Worth County Sheriff’s Office, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
