Grain bin rescues to become easier in north Iowa county

IOWA FARM BUREAU

MASON CITY, Iowa – Eight fire departments in Cerro Gordo County are getting the equipment and training to save people who get trapped in grain bins.  Cerro Gordo County Farm Bureau has purchased the appropriate equipment for fire departments in Dougherty, Mason City, Meservey, Plymouth, Rockwell, Swaledale, Thornton and Ventura.

Over the past year, the Farm Bureau board met with county fire chiefs and determined grain bin rescue was an area of need.  The equipment and training is being provided thanks to donations from local businesses including: North Iowa Co-op, Monsanto, Golden Grain Energy, Cartersville Elevator, Clear Lake Bank and Trust, Sukup Manufacturing, Farmer’s State Bank, First Security Bank, Mason City All Risk, Farm Credit Services of America, First Citizens National Bank and Syngenta.
