MASON CITY, Iowa – The woman who pled guilty to abandoning residents at an assisted living facility will not be going to jail. 54-year-old Debra Ihrig of Mason City was arrested in April for leaving County Meadow Place Assisted Living when she was the only staff on duty during the night.
Ihrig faced multiple charges, but reached a plea agreement with prosecutors. She will plead guilty to one count of wanton neglect of a dependent adult. Another count of neglect or abandonment and a count of 3rd degree theft were deferred. All other charges against Ihrig were dismissed. She will serve 4 years of probation, pay a $315 fine and a $625 civil penalty.
