MASON CITY, Iowa – A local discussion between farmers in Mason City could eventually end up on the national stage.
More than 20 farmers are meeting to talk about the changes they want to see made in the corn growing industry. The roundtable events are sponsored by the Iowa Corn Growers Association. Next, their ideas get passed to the state level, and then eventually go on to a national level but it all has to start local.
“Because I’ll go back to the local farmers in the coffee shop, that’s where your concerns are, that’s your everyday farmer,” said Michael Kohlhaas, President of District 2 for the association.
The association has eight to nine roundtables meetings a year through out the state.
