Swimming advisories issued

DES MOINES, Iowa – Swimming is not recommended this weekend at Beed’s Lake State Park in Franklin County and McIntosh Woods State Park in Cerro Gordo County.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources collected samples from both bodies of water on July 7th and found levels of E. coli bacteria above the recommended maximum.  Visitors to McIntosh Woods State Park are also urged to avoid contact with any scum or mats of algae from the lake.

The DNR has not closed these beaches but swimming is not advised.
